Groups Urge State to Reject Flawed Water Pollution Permit
This document is a formal public comment arguing that a proposed water pollution permit for the Empire Trimodal Terminal in Follansbee should not be approved as written. The groups submitting it claim the application is incomplete and inconsistent, fails to clearly identify pollution sources and site details, and ignores the company’s history of environmental violations. Because of these issues, they argue regulators and the public cannot properly assess the impact on the Ohio River and local drinking water. They are asking the state to reject or restart the permit process with accurate information and to hold a public hearing so the community can weigh in.
